Tennessee football slightly down again in Week 8 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Did not play
Yes, Kentucky remains in one of the top tiers of our SEC Power Rankings. Getting a bye off a blowout loss to Georgia was perfect timing for this team. It did drop one spot because of what other teams in this tier did, but fans of Mark Stoops’ program are likely more than satisfied with how things have played out so far this season.
Kentucky clearly knows how to win close games, as four of their wins are by one score, but that blowout win over LSU can’t be ignored, even with LSU’s struggles this year. UK has been getting better as the season goes on, and that’s scary.
The SEC East isn’t completely out of the picture just yet, although nobody sees Georgia losing two games the rest of the way. Still, Kentucky could be playing for a New Year’s Six berth and an 11-1 record. Yes, that’s on the table given the rest of their schedule.
Coming off a bye, UK visits Mississippi State. Then they host Tennessee football. Their season closes out with visits to Vanderbilt and the Louisville Cardinals and a home game against the New Mexico State Aggies in between. None of these teams are ranked, and after this Saturday, Louisville may be their toughest game left.
