Last week: Defeated LSU Tigers 31-17

Lane Kiffin’s team has answered major questions in back to back weeks. The first was its ability to play on the road. That was a legitimate question given how Alabama blew them out. However, they proved they could play on the road by holding off Tennessee football, and a barrage of fans throwing things onto the field, in Kiffin’s return to Rocky Top.

Another question was about the depth of this team. This past weekend, with everybody banged up, including Matt Corral himself, Ole Miss proved it could withstand those injuries as well. The Rebels dominated LSU 31-17 and proved they can win with defense.

Now, you may say it’s not that impressive to do that to a reeling LSU team, but this is a program that dropped 49 in a win over Florida the week before. To win the way Ole Miss did is impressive, and just like Texas A&M and Auburn, they are still in the running for the SEC West title.

Ole Miss will play Auburn this week to help determine who gains the edge in that race. Then they play the Liberty Flames and former head coach Hugh Freeze before hosting Texas A&M in another game with huge West implications. Vanderbilt and Mississippi State to close the season make 9-3 likely, but they have a great shot at 11-1.
