Tennessee football slightly down again in Week 8 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Did not play
Nobody needed a bye more than Florida. Dan Mullen’s team was supposed to contend for a national title this year or at least be in the running for the SEC East, and they may be out of it before November comes to an end. The only thing this team did that was expected was what it does every year: beat Tennessee football in a blowout.
Florida had to drop one spot in these SEC Power Rankings because of movement elsewhere while they had a week off. Being in the bottom half of the league is certainly not where anybody expected them to be in any power rankings at this point, but it’s where they belong.
Dan Mullen is now officially on the hottest of hot seats in the league with Ed Orgeron stepping down at the end of the year, and he’s got to find a way to have a strong finish to offset. There’s only one real way to have a strong finish, though.
That way is to upset Georgia this week. After UGA, Florida visits South Carolina and Missouri while hosting the Samford Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles. As a result, 8-4 is almost certain. However, upsetting UGA could somewhat salvage this disappointing season, and it also puts 10 wins back on the table. All their eggs should be in this basket.
