Last week: Defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions 45-3

Sam Pittman’s team needed a break. After three straight losses, all to really good teams, Arkansas got to face its FCS foe this year. The Hogs were finally able to catch their breath in the process, blowing out Arkansas-Pine Bluff and having a little fun. This is the first game they could relax for since the middle of September.

Although the losing streak proved that Pittman’s program is not yet ready for the big time, it still doesn’t mean this team hasn’t had an impressive run. You could still say that Tennessee football could have used Pittman, and don’t forget the mess he inherited.

That Arkansas could go from nearly three full winless seasons in the SEC, losing 20 straight conference games overall, to being in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings just over a year later is a major testament to Pittman. He’s done an excellent job.

The Hogs basically get two byes to get healthy, as they now have an actual bye. They’ll then get a home game against Mississippi State, a very winnable game, and they close out the year at home against Missouri. As a result, seven wins is on the table, but so is four losses with Alabama still on there. A trip to LSU will really define how much success they have.
