It may be a slow week with Tennessee football on a bye, but there are plenty of top 25 games for us to pick. Although the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans is a huge Big Ten East matchup, this is a pretty big one too. Ohio State can’t afford another loss if it’s going to reach the College Football Playoff this year.

Ranked No. 5 in both polls, the Buckeyes are bringing in the best offense in the nation to this game. People have somewhat forgot about them because of that early-season loss. That’s a mistake. Remember, they’ve been lost early non-conference regular season games before and still won the Big Ten.

Penn State, ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 17 in the Coaches Poll, is just not the same team it was earlier this year. They are a Sean Clifford injury away from being undefeated. Him being banged up has proven disastrous. However, the defense is still legit, so an elite Ohio State offense against an elite Penn State defense could be fun to watch.

Prediction

Even with the new overtime rules, so many overtimes will leave Penn State mentally wrecked for this game. That includes their defense. As a result, Ohio State gets the better end on that side of the ball and moves and scores at will.

Talk of James Franklin going elsewhere will also be a distraction, although Tennessee football fans will want him away from LSU since that’s who they face next year. OSU is on a mission to reach the College Football Playoff. Take them in a blowout and the under since Penn State won’t score.
