Gambling odds according to WynnBET:

  • Line: Florida -18
  • Over/Under: 53
  • Moneyline: Florida -1000; South Carolina +650

This might be the most intriguing game of the week. Forget the fact that the Florida Gators blew out Tennessee football and the South Carolina Gamecocks got blown out by Tennessee football. You’re looking at a program that’s favored but may be ready to give up on its coach vs. a program that’s the underdog but is willing to play all out for its coach.

That’s what you’re getting at Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina is trying to make a bowl in its first year under Shane Beamer. To do that, they have to steal an upset somewhere while also beating either the Missouri Tigers or Clemson Tigers, and this could be the game for them to do it.

On the other side, Florida has nothing to play for anymore. Dan Mullen’s team lost the SEC East and a shot at the College Football Playoff early on, and now a win over Georgia is off the table. All that’s left is nine wins and a potential top 25 finish, but even that may not happen.

Prediction

Is Florida floundering or just suffering a one-off? This game will determine that, and all evidence points to this being a one-off. They have a young team and should be better next year. As a result, there’s enough development with this program for us to say they win this game. Their ground game is so dominant that they cover as well, largely because South Carolina won’t score enough.

Florida: 31 South Carolina: 10 (Florida -18; Under 53)
