Did not play

It’s perfect timing for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. They are coming off a bye week and getting healthy just as they host a reeling Alabama team. Since Ole Miss’ only loss is to a team that beat Alabama, though, and since Alabama also lost to Tennessee football, Ole Miss has to be ahead of them in our SEC Power Rankings this week.

The last time we saw Ole Miss play, they had to sneak by a bad Texas A&M team. However, that was on the road, and A&M under Jimbo Fisher had made a habit of upsetting teams right as their backs were against the wall. As a result, pulling out that win may have been more impressive than anything they have done this year.

Ole Miss is still in the running for the SEC West if LSU can stumble somewhere in November, and they remain a top 10 caliber program. Talks of Kiffin to Auburn may be distracting for them, but if they can tune that out, there is a ton for them to play for in this final month.

It obviously starts with Alabama this weekend. Then they visit Arkansas before hosting Mississippi State. All three are winnable, but all three are losable too. If we go by Vegas, it’s likely they win two of three, but with the Hogs on the road, 9-3 is easily possible. The focus, for now, though, has to be on Alabama this weekend.
