Trae Golden Awaits MRI Results

Trae Golden underwent an MRI on his injured left hamstring on Wednesday but those results aren’t expected until later Thursday. Golden injured his hamstring in a win against Vanderbilt on Tuesday night. The University announced yesterday that Golden is doubtful for Saturday’s game against Arkansas. The junior point guard is third on the team in scoring and leads the team in assists.

Sophomore Brandon Lopez came into the game after Golden’s injury in the second half and handled the pressure well. Lopez had 3 assists and zero turnovers in ten minutes of action. The Volunteers are expected to lean heavily on Lopez if Golden can’t go on saturday. Armani Moore, a freshmen guard, is also likely to see some extended action with Golden out. The hope for coach Cuonzo Martin and the Tennessee basketball team is for the MRI to reveal only a strain and not a tear. A tear would be devastating to Golden’s season and to this basketball team.
