The 2014 Tennessee Volunteers recruiting class received their second commitment on Saturday. Fort Chiswell, VA native Coleman Thomas gave the Vols a verbal commitment to play football for the University of Tennessee. Thomas is a 6’6″/298 lb offensive lineman.

3-star ATH Vic Wharton was the Vol’s first commitment to the 2014 class.

The Vols have a very experienced group of offensive lineman, but coach Jones has previously said he’s concerned with the depth at the position. With the possibility they could lose a good number of starters after this season, it makes securing offensive line commitments integral to coach Jones’ 2014 class.

Thomas visited the Volunteers this past weekend and was present for the Vol’s first practice. Butch Jones and offensive line coach Don Mahoney likely made quite an impression on the Virginia native, enough that he committed earlier then expected. Virginia Tech was considered the leader for Thomas, due to his close proximity to Blacksburg and his relationship with Virginia Tech assistant Charley Wiles.

247Sports rates Thomas as a 3-star offensive lineman.

Thomas also holds offers from Marshall, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
