Trent Miller and Jake Ellison provided the pop, and Heath Slatton and Jordon Cooper closed the door in MTSU’s 7-6 victory over Tennessee on Tuesday night in Knoxville.

The Blue Raiders earned their fifth straight victory over the Volunteers to improve to 25-22. Tennessee fell to 18-25.

The Tennessee Volunteers have the seventh-most NFL draft picks of all college football programs and were even able to add to that total this year after a rough 2012. A total of eight Vols have found new NFL homes whether via the draft or free agency.

Tennessee has extended the contact of Athletics Director Dave Hart, the school announced Monday afternoon.

Previously a six-year deal, Hart’s deal has now been stretched to seven years and will expire on Sept. 18, 2018. He will receive a $50,000 retention bonus for his seventh year.

While Pat Summitt’s one-year deal with the University of Tennessee concludes on Tuesday, her tenure as head coach emeritus for the women’s basketball program will continue at least for another year.

Negotiations between the university and the Lady Vols coaching legend are ongoing on a new one-year deal. UT spokesperson Jimmy Stanton said Tuesday afternoon that final details were being worked out on the contract.
