Traditional.

That’s one word you can use to describe Butch Jones.

On Wednesday, Butch Jones told the folks at WKVL in Knoxville that there would be no black helmets this year.

Judging from the majority of the comments we received on our facebook page, regarding uniforms, this will probably be well received news among Vol fans.

Butch Jones takes the history and tradition at Tennessee very seriously. If he sees the black helmets as a knock to that tradition then it would be no surprise as to why he has already ruled them out.

Every year, at some point, rumors abound that there will be black helmets or uniforms showing up.

Black uniforms last showed up during Lane Kiffin’s lone season with the Vols in 2009. The Vols changed into the black uniforms shortly before kickoff against South Carolina on Halloween night. Tennessee went on to win the game 31-13.

What do you think of the black helmets being ruled out?
