It seems like every week there’s another former Vol coming out in full support of new Vols head coach Butch Jones.

This week is no exception.

Jason Witten, current Dallas Cowboys tight end, was recently asked by the Dallas media if he’d stay in Texas or Tennessee when he retired. Witten responded that he’d mostly likely stay in Texas, even though he loves Tennessee.

The reporter followed that question up asking “what if Butch Jones offered you a job as a tight end coach at Tennessee”?

"Witten: Not while I’m playing, that’s for sure, but I think he’ll do a good job at Tennessee"

Now there’s an idea (no sleight to Mark Elder). Jason Witten as a tight end coach would be extremely interesting, but with the Vols recent luck with former players as coaches, I think it’d be best if Witten supports the Vols from the stands.

The Knoxville native has played his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys and will certainly be enshrined in the hall of fame one day. He’s been hounded by retirement questions lately, but he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
