While team 117 is busy preparing for their season opener on August 31, team 118 is beginning to take form and it took another step in the right direction on Tuesday.

The Vols added their 24th commit for the 2014 class when DaVonte Lambert committed to Tennessee via Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Lambert is a four-star defensive end from Waynesboro, GA that attends Georgia Military College, the same junior college that monstrous Vols’ defensive tackle Daniel McCullers attended.

247Sports rates Lambert as the top juco player in the state of Georgia and the fourth best in the nation.

Lambert, 6’3″/275, will instantly be an impact player for Butch Jones. The Vols, who lack depth on their defensive line, will be losing seniors Corey Miller, Jacques Smith, Daniel McCullers and Daniel Hood after this season. Lambert should immediately break into the starting rotation next season.

The Vols’ newest commit was choosing between Tennessee and Florida on Tuesday. Lambert’s commitment to the Vols continues to show how capable Butch Jones and his staff are at recruiting in the state of Georgia. Five of the Vols 2014 commits are from Georgia.

Lambert also held notable offers from: Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and West Virginia, among others.

82% of the Crystal Ball predictions on the 247Sports network correctly predicted Lambert’s commitment to Tennessee.

The Vols currently sit at the top of Rivals’ team rankings and second in 247Sports’ team rankings.
