From the Times Free Press

"CJ Turman’s relationship with Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin and the program’s facilities led the 6-foot-9 forward from Madison, Ga., to commit to the Volunteers on Sunday. The Morgan County High School senior was in Knoxville this weekend for an unofficial visit and chose the Vols over Mississippi State."

From Go Vols Xtra

"Just about every player on the practice field takes some razzing from Tennessee football coach Butch Jones when he gets behind the wireless mic and starts shooting verbal barbs. On Sunday, it was linebacker A.J. Johnson’s turn.Jones called Johnson a “grabber,” who leads the nation in tackles made five yards past the line of scrimmage. The sourcing on that statistic is dubious, but the point was clear. It’s been one the new coaching staff has made dozens of times since arriving last December: Johnson’s SEC tackles title from 2012 means little to them."

From WBIR

"At least 39,000 fans filled Neyland Stadium for a historic Vols Football open practice on Saturday evening. Many fans treated it like an actual game, tailgating several hours before the practice.Eugene Headrick said the open practice was the first one he could remember since he started selling programs at Neyland Stadium.“Ever since 1954 I’ve been here and I’ve never known them having a scrimmage like this. I’ve seen Orange and White games but none like this,” Headrick said."

From Rant Sports

"The Tennessee Volunteers added another piece to their already impressive 2014 recruiting class with the commitment of JUCO defensive end DaVonte Lambert. Lambert, who currently plays for Georgia Military College, is the No. 1 defensive end and the No. 4 overall player amongst JUCO prospects according to 247Sports.He is the latest prospect to join Butch Jones‘ heralded class, which is currently ranked No. 1 on Rivals. Tennessee also adds some much-needed depth to the defensive end position, a necessity entering the 2014 season. The Vols currently list seniors Jacques Smith and Marlon Walls as their starting defensive ends. With both players, as well as fellow senior Corey Miller, departing next season, Tennessee’s defensive ends will lack experience."

From Bleacher Report

"The rivalry between the Tennessee and Vanderbilt fan bases has gained steam in recent years, with the upcoming season possibly reaching the all-time boiling point. If you’re unfamiliar with the history between the two teams, the majority of meetings have been dominated by the Volunteers, who have won seven or more games per decade since the 1930’s.Tennessee owns a 73-29-5 all-time record against the Commodores. Over the past 30 years, the Volunteers have won all but two games in their annual meetings with their state rivals."
