Once a draft prospect that was a considered a first round talent, Da’Rick Rogers is now struggling to stick with a team.

The Indianpolis Colts, who signed Rogers to their practice squad on Monday, may be the final chance for the talented wide receiver.

Rogers went undrafted in April, but was signed shortly after the draft by the Buffalo Bills. The former Vol, who was removed from the team before his junior season, was told early on that his opportunity with the Bills was a “one-shot deal”.

Unfortunately for Rogers, he had a few too many missteps. One such instance found Rogers being chastised for taunting in practice. He didn’t help himself much in the Bills’ first pre-season game either, failing to pursue the ball on a strip-sack fumble.

The Colts are not one of the five teams that I thought would be a good fit for Rogers, but that doesn’t mean they’re a bad fit.

At this point any team willing to take a chance on the troubled receiver is a good fit.

The Colts have a few players entrenched at wide receiver: Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey. After those three, it’s pretty much wide-open.

Rogers could have a huge opportunity with the Colts, especially with Wayne nearing the end of his career.

First he’ll have to prove he’s worthy of that opportunity.
