If you’re crafting a list of candidates for the Vol’s starting quarterback against the Florida Gators this weekend, there’s one name you can cross of your list — Josh Dobbs.

Dobbs’ chances of starting were slim anyway, so him not traveling with the team isn’t a huge surprise. A lot of folks (myself included) think that Dobbs will be redshirted this season. This could be a precursor to that move.

It’s not a certainty though. Dobbs was left out — for now — because of the numbers game, but it’s still a good indication of his status in the quarterback battle.

This now leaves the Vols with three possibilities as their starter against Florida: incumbent starter Justin Worley, redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman or true freshman Riley Ferguson.

My money is still on Justin Worley retaining the job, at least for another week.

Although at this point, nothing would surprise me.
