We all know that uniforms can’t help win games. Making plays helps to win games.

Butch Jones knows that too.

Jones addressed the new Smoley Gray uniforms during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday saying “No uniforms are going to help you in a game. We are responsible for what we do between the lines.” Jones also added that he and his football team had not spent any time even discussing the Smokey Gray uniforms that will be used for the first time on Saturday against Georgia.

Most fans are definitely in favor of the new uniforms, but there are always the traditionalists that believe the Vols should only be in orange at home.

I’m in the camp that believes orange should always be the primary color the Volunteers wear, but an alternate uniform once or twice a year is great for the kids and for the fans.

That’s a point that Jones definitely gets.

"Jones: Its a part of society. It’s what this generation likes. Everything we do is respect tradition. But its an energy boost"

If the Vols upset Georgia on Saturday, it won’t be because of the color of their jerseys, but the extra confidence that comes from the Smokey Gray uniforms can’t hurt either.
