The Vols had quite the weekend in terms of recruiting. Recruits were abuzz on Twitter about the atmosphere on Rocky Top during the Vols’ loss to Georgia on Saturday.

Unfortunately for the Vols, they got some bad news on Sunday evening. Four-Star JuCo wide receiver Eric Lauderdale has decided to “back away” from his commitment to Tennessee.

Lauderdale, a 6’2″/190 lb receiver, was recently offered by Florida, but quickly tweeted “still Vol nation” in what appeared to be a confirmation of his commitment to Tennessee.

Apparently that’s not the case.

Lauderdale committed to the Volunteers on July 14 and bolstered an already strong 2014 wide receiver class for the Vols. The California native is rated as the #3 JuCo player in the nation.

The Vols are still in the running for Tennessee native Josh Malone, a four-star WR who was in attendance for the Georgia game.

If he don’t feel he is talented enough to compete with the youngsters we currently have for a starting job then it is best he back away and go where he has a chance to do so. Good Luck Son.

    • lakesidegator

Uh, how can we know that was his reason? Could be that he would rather go to a winning program…
      like Florida (nine in-a-row, Sam).

      • jerrymbaldwin

        Or perhaps LSU?

    • gibbypoo

You have a bunch of scrawny, slow white dudes lining up at WR. Talented enough to complete, lol, spin it however you want, gramps, but it’s still sour grapes in the end.

  • Sam L. Brown

Don’t know that it was the reason he bailed on us but could be you are correct, but then again most likely you aren’t.

Yep nine in a row you have prevailed against us but please be advised that your time in the damn barrel is coming sooner than you think.

Good luck on Sat.because you will need it.

Why stop in Gainsville when the real team looking for quality WR”s is in Coral Gables…Go Canes

  • Wm Fred Baty

Here’s hoping that Lauderdale’s decommitment means he’s heard through the grapevine that Malone is coming to Tennessee!!! I hope, I hope, I hope…

    • zach ragan

Maybe, but I don’t think Malone has made up his mind yet. He’s planning to enroll early wherever he goes, so he needs to make his decision sooner rather then later.

    • rbwusa

      I second that emotion.

……a receiver will not be missed. If he has any doubts we don’t want him…..goodbye!

They are all Kids and shouldn’t commit to any school while they are still in High School there is so much pressure from schools it makes them look like inexperienced kids Oh sorry, that’s what they are. I really don’t pay attention to all the publicity they get while in High School because MOST yes most don’t even make the team.
