Tennessee jumped out to an early 14-4 lead and never looked back against The Citadel at a fairly empty Thompson-Boling Arena on Monday night.  The Vols physically overmatched the Bulldogs with their athletic ability, as UT cruised to a 86-60 victory.

Jordan McRae and Antonio Barton paced the Vols with 10 points a piece in the first half.  McRae finished with 20 points and Barton with 13.  The second half was the Robert Hubbs III show, as he poured in 13 off the bench.

Some sloppy play in the first half prevented the score from getting too far out of hand, as the Vols committed 14 turnovers and shot 68% from the FT line…only 50% in the first half.  Defensively, Tennessee forced 13 turnovers and outrebounded the Bulldogs 43-30.

For The Citadel, Matt Van Scyoc led with 19 points.  The Bulldogs fall to 2-3 overall, while the Vols improve to 2-1 on the young season.  Next up for the Vols is Tennessee State on Friday night.  Two non-perishable food items gain free admission into the game.  Donations will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank.
