You know the drill at this point.

Da’Rick Rogers has a ton of talent, but he has to keep it together off the field etc etc etc. You’ve heard it ad nauseam from us.

After being cut by the Buffalo Bills, Rogers was signed by the Indianapolis Colts to their practice squad.

He was promoted to the active roster for one game, waived, signed again to the practice squad and ultimately ended up being promoted again last week.

Rogers has been a member of the Colts’ active roster for two games, but was among the inactives for both of those games.

That trend, however, could be coming to an end this week.

That’s because on Tuesday the Colts waived wide receiver Griff Whalen.

Whalen has played in six games this season (including the last three) and compiled 102 yards on 9 receptions.

He was basically the fourth wide receiver on the team.

With Whalen out of the way, Rogers now has a clear path to some playing time.

Indianapolis head coach Chuck Pagano seems to have high hopes for Rogers.

"Pagano: You’ve got a talented football player…Now we are going to give him an opportunity because he’s earned it."

It looks like maybe Rogers finally realized this was possibly his last chance in the NFL (he’s cleared waivers twice).

If he does finally receive some playing time, he’ll have an opportunity to show all the other teams in the NFL what they missed out on in the NFL draft.
