The Tennessee Volunteers might have got one of the biggest steals of the recruiting season in four-star wide receiver Lavon Pearson.

Pearson (rated as the number two overall JuCo wide receiver and the fourth overall JuCo recruit) signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Tennessee on Wednesday.

The 6’1″/180 lb receiver from Plumas Ntl Forest, CA (Feather River College) committed to Tennessee on October 20.

Despite being rated as the second overall JuCo receiver, Pearson wasn’t heavily recruited early on in the process, although several top programs —  including Oregon — made a late run at the talented receiver.

One look at his 2013 stat line — 93 Rec, 1,601 yards and 12 touchdowns — shows you exactly what Tennessee is getting.

Pearson, along with Marquez North and fellow early enrollee Josh Malone, will provide the Vols with a dynamic group of wide receivers in 2014.

Vol fans should be extremely excited about Lavon Pearson. While he probably won’t end up being as productive as the Vols’ last JuCo wide receiver (Cordarrelle Patterson), he’ll still provide Tennessee with an immediate playmaker.
