Vols Football Team Heads To Movies (Complete With Police Escort)

When you go to see a movie, you typically get in your car, head to the movie theater and enjoy.

When the Tennessee Volunteers football team goes to the movies, it goes complete with police escort and apparently a rented-out theater.

We can’t be sure that the theater was reserved solely for the UT football team, but from the looks of it in the above picture, it would appear that way.

The Vols took in “Lone Survivor”, which according to IMDB “tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan.”

Some folks on Twitter took issue with the Vols using a police escort to head to the movies, but Tennessee football is royalty in East Tennessee, so what would you expect?

Butch Jones is a master at team building. This is just another small and subtle example of just that.

In the old days, the had an athletic Dorm they all lived in, thus were easier to keep tabs on before games. Now 1/2 the team lives off campus, so the night before big games, the entire team stays in an area hotel and goes as a team to events like movies the night before the game.. they do this on the road as well. This isn’t a Butch thing, this has been the practice for years at UT.

Anyone can get a police escort for special events, but you pay for it is all (usually) unless it’s the Gov or President levels coming to town. You want a police escort? just pay for it.

Yep, in fact just about every football program in division one does that, but Butch is better at team building than a lot of other coaches.
