Preston Williams, who committed to Tennessee on September 21, 2013, is now rated as a five-star recruit by 247Sports.

Williams, a 6’5″/205 lb wide receiver, could end up being the cornerstone of the Vols’ 2015 class. In addition to being rated as a five-star, he’s also rated as the top receiver in the nation by 247Sports and the 26th best player in the 2015 class.

He’s still rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals, which will certainly change in the coming months.

The Hampton, GA (Lovejoy) native is still receiving plenty of attention from other schools, which is expected when you’re talking about the top receiver in the nation. He has offers from essentially every major school, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State and Virginia Tech among many others.

Williams has stated he’ll be visiting other schools, but assured Vol fans they have nothing to worry about.

Williams definitely seems like he’s firmly committed to the Vols and while I’m sure he is, there will be a lot of other programs pulling out all of the stops trying to flip him.

Zach Azzanni and Tommy Thigpen, the Vols’ top two recruiters, will need to continue to recruit Williams as if he’s an uncommitted recruit, because there’s no way Tennessee can let this one get away.

The Vols’ returning reputation as WRU is going to once again make Tennessee a premier destination for the top wide receivers in the nation.
