The top dual-threat quarterback in the nation has canceled his upcoming trip to South Carolina and will instead use that time to visit Tennessee.

Torrance Gibson, a top five player in the state of Florida, tweeted the news this morning.

The Ft Lauderdale native is a 6’4″/200 lb five-star quarterback that runs a 4.50 40-yard dash. His style of play would be perfect for Butch Jones’ up-tempo offense. Gibson can make plays with his arm, as well as beat defenders with his legs.

Getting Gibson on campus is absolutely huge for the Vols. Jones has said plenty of times before that getting a recruit on campus is half the battle. Tennessee’s facilities are second to none and seeing that in person typically wows a recruit every time.

Considering the Vols didn’t sign a quarterback this past season, Gibson is a huge priority. The Vols have a lot of uncertainty at the position and Gibson could easily be the quarterback of the future.

Tennessee will have to battle schools such as Auburn, Clemson, Miami, Florida and Ohio State, as well as many others, for Gibson’s commitment.
