The Tennessee Volunteers will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes tonight in the first round — also called the “First Four” — of the NCAA tournament.

The winner of the game will advance to the second round and play UMass on Friday.

The Vols (21-12, 11-7) finished the year by winning five of their last six games. Tennessee lost to the top overall seed in the tournament, Florida, by a score of 56-49 in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament. The Vols played well enough to win, even leading by 10 at point, but ultimately Florida’s defense was just too much to overcome.

Iowa (20-12, 9-9), on the other hand, finished the season by almost playing their way out of the tournament. The Hawkeyes lost six of their last seven games.

But before you start thinking Iowa is a pushover, consider this: Iowa beat Michigan 85-67 on February 8 and took Michigan State and Villanova into overtime this season.

The Hawkeyes are a dangerous scoring team that could give Tennessee a fit. Much like the Vols, it just depends on which team shows up.
