Just two and a half months after committing to Tennessee, Emmit Gooden has reopened his recruitment.

Gooden is a 6’4″/263 lb four-star defensive lineman from Brownsville, TN (Haywood). He’s rated as the top player in the state of Tennessee by 247Sports.

It’s a big blow to Tennessee to lose a commitment from the top 2016 in-state player, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the Vols are completely out of it for Gooden.

That’s an impressive group of schools that are recruiting Gooden. You can’t blame the young man for keeping his options open. Choosing a college is one of the biggest decisions an 16 or 17 year old can make.

Gooden is a player the Vols definitely need to land in 2015, given their well documented woes on the defensive line.
