Tennessee Football: Malik Brown Leaving Vols
By Zach Ragan
Redshirt freshman defensive end Malik Brown will transfer from Tennessee, according a report from Evan Woodbery of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Butch Jones was able to flip Malik Brown from Syracuse, where he was previously committed, on National Signing Day 2013.
Brown, however, was unable to make an impact as a freshman as he battled through injuries.
It’s unlikely that Brown, who didn’t have a great spring, was going to make much of an impact this year either.
If Brown wasn’t able to crack the rotation of the Vols’ depleted defensive line this season, then it was definitely in his best interest to move on from Tennessee.
The move shouldn’t hurt the Vols too much. The defensive line was going to be in a bad situation anyway. This won’t change that either way.
