Former Vols Punter Michael Palardy Signs With Oakland Raiders
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Volunteers punter Michael Palardy signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday, according to the former Vol’s Twitter account.
Palardy originally tweeted, shorty after the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft, that he was a Jet.
That was a apparently on a tryout basis, which looked to be going well for Palardy.
For whatever reason, it didn’t work out with the Jets, but now Palardy will have an opportunity in Oakland where he’ll join former Vols Kevin Burnett, Denarius Moore, Mychal Rivera and Jarrod Shaw.
Palardy proved his worth as a punter in 2013, as he was essentially the Vols’ MVP. His monstrous punts were a key component in Tennessee’s upset win over South Carolina.
I think there’s little doubt that Palardy will stick in the NFL as a punter. All he needs is the right situation.
