A few weeks ago Tennessee basketball learned fifth year transfer Eric McKnight wouldn’t get a waiver to transfer to Tennessee, but coach Donnie Tyndall got better news on Thursday.
Signee Detrick Mostella was cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse on Thursday and is eligible this season as a freshman.
Mostella was an Oklahoma State signee and a Pittsburgh commit before landing on Rocky Top.

Eric McKnight was unable to get the waiver he needed to play immediately at Tennessee, but he has found a landing spot for his final season of college.
McKnight will be heading to Long Beach State next season, according to a report from the Knoxville News Sentinel. A spokesperson for the 49ers could not confirm that McKnight had joined the program.
From Go Vols Xtra
As Tennessee coach Butch Jones and his staff work on back-to-back top-10 recruiting classes, the success is magnified by what Tennessee and its SEC competition are doing on the field.
UT is down when so many conference teams are up.
The Vols have suffered through five losing seasons in the past six seasons. They haven’t been to a bowl since the 2010 season. Kentucky is the only other SEC team that has gone the past three seasons without a bowl invitation. Not exactly the company the Vols want to keep.
While UT has struggled, other programs have soared.
South Carolina has never been better in football.
Alabama and Auburn have combined to play in the past five national championship games.
