Vols Football: Neiko Creamer Sees Time At Tight End

True freshman Neiko Creamer was recruited as a wide receiver, signed as an athlete and promptly moved to linebacker.

And now he’s on the move again.

We don’t know if it’s temporary or permanent, but we do know that Creamer saw time at tight end on Friday during practice.

Here’s what Butch Jones had to say about the move.

"Jones: Today we tried him [Creamer] at tight end, and we’ll continue to see what he can do at the tight end position. Again, it’s just moving him around. He may be at a number of different positions. He’s fit. He’s a big body. Now, we’re just trying to find the right fit for him."

Creamer is going to be a big help to the Vols, regardless of where he ends up playing.

But he might actually be the biggest help to Tennessee at tight end.

The Vols drastically improved at the position with the additions of Ethan Wolf and Daniel Helm, but Creamer could really bring another element to the offense.

Wolf has performed well during camp, but Creamer could fill the role of the “joker tight end” that’s taken the NFL by storm. I can’t imagine there are many linebackers in the SEC that would be able to cover him — at least not when he figures out the position.

It’s way to early to tell if Creamer will stick at the position, but I think it’s a good move for the Vols to make.
