Joshua Dobbs is probably the smartest quarterback in college right now. Could he be considered as one of the best ever to play for Tennessee football?

Yes, the title is very cliché. There will, in fact, not be another Josh Dobbs. However, this statement is true for the Tennessee football program.

The senior is entering his last year of eligibility for the Volunteers and his time at Tennessee has been exciting.

When Dobbs first arrived to campus, not many people knew his name. He wasn’t the next big-time recruit, he was just another dual threat quarterback. He was originally committed to Arizona State before flipping to the Vols. With his arrival to campus also came the public’s recognition of his choice of major.

Aerospace engineering is the major Dobbs pursued and is still pursuing to this day. Using his education he is getting, he has already been through two internships.

He is attempting to get a degree that is above and beyond other majors. All of this is being done while being a SEC quarterback. That is amazing.

Dobbs’s career began against Alabama in 2013. He then was thrown into the fire as a freshman and finished out the season with top-notch competition. Alabama, Auburn, Missouri and Vanderbilt all welcomed Josh Dobbs to the SEC.

His second year was almost identical to his first. Once again, he was forced to go in against Alabama. This time he made something out of it. In 2014, Dobbs helped the Vols achieve a bowl game for the first time in three years.

The hype behind Dobbs was building as each day was approaching the opening of college football in 2015.

Dobbs had a solid junior season. Team 119 will always be remembered by the blown leads but it was a very talented team led by Dobbs.

Now, Dobbs is CEO of one of the most talked about teams in the nation. If he can take Team 120 to Atlanta and farther, then Dobbs will go down as one of the best players to ever go through this program.

To top it off, Dobbs pulled off the unthinkable. He literally flew the Tennessee representatives back to Knoxville from SEC Media Days.
