Peyton Manning, Jarrett Guarantano, and talk of the Tennessee Volunteers bring overrated lead the headlines on Rocky Top for Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016.

We’re now one week away! One week until the Vols begin their football season with a Thursday night home opener against the Appalachian State Mountaineers!

One week until Tennessee plays its first game as a Top 10 team since 2006!

And one week until we finally begin to see if all the hoopla around the program is real. But is it real?

That question is part of the news we bring you today on Rocky Top. Fair or not, the Vols have raised a few eyebrows with their preseason hype.

We’re going to get into that here, along with some news about Peyton Manning and Jarrett Guarantano. Let’s start, though with the news that’ll make Vols fans angry.

Three CBS experts call Vols most overrated team in the SEC – USA TODAY Network

"Here’s what Tom Fornelli wrote, with Jon Solomon and Jerry Palm in agreement:“The Vols might be really good this season. They might win the SEC East. These things definitely fall within the realm of possibility. It’s just, this is the same Tennessee team that hasn’t beaten Florida since 2004 and hasn’t won against Georgia in Athens since 2006. It’s also 3-13 against ranked teams under Butch Jones, so while I see the potential, I’m still approaching with caution.”"

Jarrett Guarantano’s talent turning heads in Knoxville – Wes Rucker of 247Sports

"Josh Malonelaughed before answering when asked to assess the most impressive skill Jarrett Guarantano has showed so far in preseason camp.Malone, a junior wide receiver, knew the answer. Anyone who has watched Tennessee so far in preseason camp knows the answer.“His arm,” Malone said. You don’t catch passes from Guarantano. You survive them."
