Tennessee football’s injury report, UT fans 11 and younger, Tyler Byrd, and soccer headline the Volunteers updates on Rocky Top for Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.

Happy Friday everybody! Businesses all over Rocky Top are ready to close down for the weekend and get ready for what is undoubtedly the biggest football game of the year for the Vols.

Can Tennessee do it? Can they finally lift the Florida Gators curse?

Well, that’s pretty much all anybody in Knoxville can focus on right now. However, there is a bit of other news to get to regarding the Vols as well.

We’ll tackle all of that here, even with the Florida game as the major focus. So let’s start with an interesting featured that just puts into perspective how frustratingly long this Florida streak has been.

Meet the Vols fans who haven’t seen UT beat Florida – Jonathan Toye of Knoxville News Sentinel

"Logan Parsley, Hunter Adams, AJ Cucksey and Emily Carpenter all have different interests.Logan receives drum lessons at the School of Rock. Hunter wants to play guitar. AJ loves to play with his Lincoln logs and in his toy kitchen. And Emily enjoys volleyball and gymnastics. But they all love football, and they all love cheering for Tennessee. They also share something else in common: they were born sometime after Sept. 18, 2004, the last time Tennessee beat Florida, 30-28. All they know during their lifetime is Tennessee losing to Florida"

Butch Jones says Chance Hall, Jalen Reeves-Maybin good to go – John Brice of 247Sports

"Hall will have a chance to help the Vols on the field this week as they host nemesis Florida inside Neyland Stadium (3:30 p.m., CBS). The sophomore offensive tackle is set to make his season debut for Tennessee after meniscus surgery mid-August.“He’s good to go. We’re excited,” Butch Jones told 104.5 the Zone in Nashville Thursday afternoon. “We’ll know more Saturday, but the big thing with him was from a conditioning standpoint.”Jones also reiterated to the 104.5 the Zone’s 3HL crew that senior linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin will play."

Butch Jones says Tyler Byrd could be two-way player – John Brice of 247Sports

"With rookie sensation Tyler Byrd on Vol Calls Wednesday night, Jones said Byrd could develop into a two-way player for Tennessee, which hosts Florida on Saturday inside Neyland Stadium with an 11-game losing streak in the series on the line. Pickens was the Vols’ last great two-way player, shining at both wideout and defensive back.“I think he could,” said Jones, who added that Byrd needed to also master more areas of special teams."

Vols soccer shuts out Georgia for third straight win – UTSports

"Another standout performance from Tennessee’s do-everything midfielder Rylie O’Keefe helped lead the Volunteers to their third straight victory with a 2-0 shutout over Georgia on Thursday night in Athens.O’Keefe tallied both goals for the Vols to record her first-career multi-goal game and her third multi-point performance of the year. The Big Orange (6-4, 2-1 SEC) were also stout defensively, posting their third consecutive shutout."
