Recruiting, Tennessee football’s rise in the polls, and other sports on campus headline the Volunteers news on Rocky Top for Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.

It’s a great Monday on Rocky Top for Vols fans. Going into work or school 4-0 with that elusive victory over the Florida Gators can’t make for a better start to the week.

Tennessee fans will likely enjoy this for at least one more day before they begin to look ahead to the Georgia Bulldogs.

As we get set to bring you the Vols updates for today, it’s worth noting that Rocky Top had lots of other action take place on Sunday that we need to bring you.

That includes women’s basketball, tennis, soccer, and volleyball. But let’s start with the football news.

After all, that’s clearly the highlight of the weekend.

Vols move up to No. 11 in both polls – Rhiannon Potkey of Knoxville News Sentinel

"Tennessee moved a spot away from the top 10 following its victory over Florida.The Vols (4-0, 1-0 SEC) are ranked No. 11 in both the USA Today coaches’ and The Associated Press Top 25 polls that were released on Sunday."

Recruits enjoy atmosphere in Vols win over Florida – Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports

"Tennessee hosted top targets across the board in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and seems like they all left Neyland feeling the same amount of excitement.The Vols may have had their future quarterback in the crowd on a recruiting trip."

Lady Vols get verbal commitment from top in-state prospect – Dan Olson of ESPNW

"Anastasia Hayes, a 5-foot-7 point guard at Riverdale (Murfreesboro, Tennessee), and the No. 9 senior prospect in the nation, has given a verbal commitment to Tennessee.Hayes, who averaged 19.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists and won a state title as a junior at Riverdale, had also been considering Mississippi, South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Florida."

UT Volleyball beats Georgia 3-0 for first SEC win – UTSports

"Tennessee freshman Tessa Grubbs had 12 kills and Bri Holmes added 10 as the Volunteers defeated Georgia 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-21) on Sunday for their first SEC volleyball win of the season at Thompson-Boling Arena.The Vols (10-4, 1-1 SEC) rebounded from a 3-0 loss Friday to Mississippi State with improved hitting and defense against Georgia (12-3, 0-2). Tennessee hit .333 for the match while holding Georgia to .065 hitting."

Vols men’s tennis duo captures first doubles title – UTSports 

"Tennessee sophomore Timo Stodder and freshman Scott Jones scored a top-10 doubles victory to capture their first doubles title Sunday at the Ivy Plus Invitational.Stodder and Jones defeated the seventh-ranked team of Shawn Hadavi and Richard Pham 8-5 to capture the title in the Rockefeller Draw."

Vols soccer loses to Florida – UTSports

"Tennessee dropped a hard-fought contest to No. 12/9 Florida in a highly entertaining match on Sunday evening at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville. Two second-half goals propelled the Gators to victory and also snapped a three-game winning streak for the Volunteers.UT goalkeepers Shae Yanez and Jamie Simmons combined to make 13 saves on the night while the back four showed tremendous effort throughout the game against one of the top scoring teams in the nation. Unfortunately, Savannah Jordan broke through with a goal in the 69th minute that turned out to be the difference in an intense battle between longtime SEC rivals."
