Tennessee football finally ran out of magic. The Volunteers suffered a 45-38 double-overtime loss to the Texas A&M Aggies.

As they were saying on CBS, Tennessee football ran out of pixie dust. But of course, that pixie dust made up for all the curses plaguing the program.

The Vols lost to the Texas A&M Aggies in double-overtime Saturday after a Joshua Dobbs interception.

That interception was the seventh turnover for the Vols in the game after they gained 684 yards of total offense.

Tennessee pulled its usual stunt of falling behind early in this game. The Aggies took a 28-7 lead in the third quarter, but the Vols fought back once again. They made a plethora of mistakes on the road in fighting back as well.

Alvin Kamara fumbled the ball inside the 10-yard line after a 55-yard run, Joshua Dobbs was sacked and fumbled the ball, and Evan Berry fumbled the ball all in the first half.

In the second half, John Kelly caused two fumbles, one on a run and the other on running the wrong way on a misdirection carry by Dobbs. Then Dobbs had an interception after Jason Croom bobbled a pass.

Texas A&M had 21 points off those turnovers.

However, Tennessee fought back with gutsy performances from Dobbs and Kamara. Kamara finished with 18 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns along with eight receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown.

Dobbs had 398 passing yards and a touchdown, 17 carries for 57 yards, and a four-yard touchdown reception from Jauan Jennings on a trick play by Mike DeBord.

But as the Vols fought back, the craziness began late in the fourth quarter, just like it did last week. Down 35-28, the Vols needed a stop. Then Trayveon Williams carried the ball for Texas A&M all the way to the one-yard line and looked like he’d score a touchdown.

But Malik Foreman stripped the ball at the last second, and it went out of the end zone for a touchback.

Dobbs led an 8-yard drive after that, and it looked like he still had the magic.

But then Texas A&M drove into Tennessee territory as time expired for a game-winning field goal. They missed the field goal.

However, the two exchanged field goals in the first overtime. In the second, Trevor Knight hit Christian Kirk on a long pass before scoring the next play.

Dobbs then threw an interception. With the pick, the Vols lost and fell to 5-1 on the year and 2-1 in the SEC.

Texas A&M moves to 6-0.

However, Tennessee football still is relevant. The Vols can still control their own destiny with a win next week against the Alabama Crimson Tide, a game which is much bigger now than it once was.

But for a week, Tennessee has to live in the mistakes that came back to haunt it.
