Tennessee Vols coach Butch Jones’s ranking among FBS coaches in Athlon and a tribute to Pat Summitt lead the Volunteers news for Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

Taking a look at Tennessee Vols coaches, former and current, leads the news for today. As we get set to bring you the news on Rocky Top, we’ll discuss a tribute to a legendary coach and a ranking of a current one.

Athlon ranks Butch Jones in top 30 of FBS coaches – Steven Lassan, Athlon

He may be on the hot seat, but Tennessee Vols football coach Butch Jones is getting some respect on Athlon. The head coach came in at No. 30 on the magazine’s ranking of FBS coaches.

"Despite falling short of preseason expectations, it’s clear Jones has helped this program take a step forward. He’s 30-21 overall in four years, and the Volunteers have recorded three consecutive bowl victories for the first time since 1994-96. Prior to Tennessee, Jones finished 27-13 in three years at Central Michigan and went 23-14 in three seasons at Cincinnati."

Video tributes to Pat Summitt to be released – Dan Fleser, Knoxville News Sentinel

Former Tennessee Lady Vols head coach Pat Summitt will be honored on Wednesday, a year to the date after her death, in a series of video tributes.

"Summitt’s foundation has collected video tributes from former Tennessee Lady Vols as well as Summitt’s friends, UT administrators, foundation advisory board members, coaches and other associates. Patrick Wade, the foundation’s director, said approximately 75 videos have been submitted and will be released via the foundation’s website and on social media to mark the anniversary of Summitt’s death."

Tennessee Vols basketball guard Jordan Bone on health – Grant Ramey, GoVols247

Jordan Bone spent part of last year injured and the second half of the season trying to get back to health. Now, he’s trying to get fully healthy and become a very reliable point guard for Rick Barnes and Tennessee basketball this year.

"Bone played in 20 games after the injury, returning for Tennessee’s win at Texas A&M in the SEC opener on Dec. 29. But it wasn’t until the last game of the season that he stopped thinking about his foot.“That was very frustrating,” Bone said. “Just have to hope and pray I can have a healthy year this year.”"
