Former Vol Finishes Second on Biggest Loser

For once, a Volunteer was trying to lose, recently it’s become commonplace in Knoxville but for former Vol Antone Davis, losing was the ultimate goal. Davis played for the Vols from 1988-1990 on the offensive line at guard and tackle. Davis earned All-American honors his senior season as well as being a finalist for the outland trophy. Davis was a key factor in Tennessee Halfback Tony Thompson rushing for an SEC-best 1,261 yards. Davis would go on to play seven year in the pros with the Eagles and Falcons, officially retiring in 1999.

“When you are an athlete and you are challenged to do something, you want to try it. You want to win,” he said. “Weight loss was something I tried and tried and tried (to master), but I was not attacking the full problem.”

Davis went on to become a restaurant manager, which is where he found himself in 2011 before going on the Biggest Loser. Davis weighed 447 lbs. By the end of the show, Davis had slimmed down to 245 lbs and lost 202 lbs throughout the course of the show, a staggering 45% of his body weight, which was good for a runner-up finish.
