By Sam Scott
Freshman Wide Receiver DeAnthony Arnett has requested to be released from the University of Tennessee to transfer to a school closer to home. Arnett sites that he needs to be closer to his ailing father in Michigan. Arnett will be filing for a hardship waiver, which would allow him to play his first season after transfer. Tennessee has granted his release but there will be limitations, Tennessee stated they have no problem letting him transfer, but will limit Arnett should he transfer to a school that Tennessee plays or recruits against. Either way, it’s highly unlikely that Arnett will wear continue to play for Tennessee.
Arnett was one of the top recruits from the 2011 singing class, and saw action in all 12 games this season, adding 24 receptions, the most by a freshman on this Volunteer squad. Arnett has stated that he will explore his options. He nearly signed with Michigan State before singing with the Vols.
