Vols Await Decision from Bynum

facebooktwitterreddit

The 2012 recruiting class isn’t quite complete yet. There is one more holdout and his name is Kenneth Bynum (OLB, Jacksonville, Fl).

Before Dalton Santos and Otha Peters decommitted, the Vols were set at linebacker. But the week preceding signing day saw Santos jump at an offer to Texas and Peters flip to Arkansas. Enter Kenneth Bynum. Suddenly the 3-Star OLB become a high priority. Bynum had already committed to play at Cincinnati, but interestingly, chose to delay his commitment after Tennessee entered the race late.

Bynum (6’1” 210) would be a solid late addition to the Vols class and would certainly give Derek Dooley’s third class at Tennessee a bump in the rankings. The class is currently ranked 18 on Rivals, 26 on Scout, and 21st on ESPN.

After the late departures, the Vols class is thin at linebacker, Justin King being the only signee. Needless to say, Dooley and Co. have been pursuing hard after this kid. Bynum came on an official visit to Knoxville on Monday February 6th.

Brent Hubbs of Volquest.com is confident that Bynum will choose Tennessee. The fact that he delayed his commitment and took a visit on Monday, I think, would indicate choosing Tennessee as well.
