AFT Bracketology – 3/9

facebooktwitterreddit

Not much has changed since Tuesday’s edition, but there’s still some seed changes and two new teams in the field. Here’s your bracket for this Thursday:

Last Four In: MSU, Drexel, Xavier, Iona
First Four Out: Dayton, Northwestern, Tennessee, Seton Hall
Next Four Out: South Florida, St. Joseph’s, NC State, Middle Tennessee

No major changes. I’ve inserted Drexel and Xavier in place of Dayton and Seton Hall for the following reasons: Seton Hall lost a game they really needed to win against Louisville, so they’re done. Dayton’s resume doesn’t match up as well as Xavier’s, so the Musketeers get a slight edge. I won’t be able to do many, if any, updates this weekend due to a programming note I’ll talk about later, but I’ll try as best as I can to keep up with changes in the field. If I can’t get them in a post on here, you can check them out on Twitter at @wwarren9. Send me a follow request, I’ll accept it, and you’ll get some hopefully not terrible bracketology knowledge.

Tennessee is inching up, but they still have to win at least one game to be on the cutline and two to be in the field. They’ve got a good shot at it, with a likely matchup with Ole Miss tomorrow night and one against either Vanderbilt or Mississippi State on Saturday (unless Georgia shocks everyone). If you’re a Tennessee fan, you want their opponents to be the highest quality possible so the wins count that much more. For those purposes, you’d hope Tennessee plays Ole Miss tomorrow and Vanderbilt Saturday.

Said programming note. Sam, JT, and myself will be going to Chicago this weekend for a memorial service for our good friend Scott Gianopoulos, who passed away early Monday morning after a three-year battle with bone cancer. Scott was an inspiration to us all and he loved the orange and white more than almost anyone I’ve ever met. We miss him, but we know that all his pain is gone and he’s finally running free with the Lord. With this, I probably won’t have any bracket updates for you this weekend, but I promise you’ll get more than your share after the bracket is announced Sunday evening.

Have a great weekend, and know this: there is never such a thing as “too much basketball.”
