Trae Golden Update

Trae Golden’s MRI results revealed only a hamstring strain and not a tear.  Despite this good news the junior point guard is still considered doubtful for Saturday’s game at Arkansas. Head coach Cuonzo Martin seemed to indicate it was within the realm of possibility that Golden could return next Wednesday for the Vols’ game at home against Georgia.

Golden has averaged 10 points and game and nearly 4 assists a game but lost his starting job to junior Jordan McRae after failing to take care of the ball.  If Golden is unable to go, as expected, then sophomore guard Bradon Lopez is expected to see more playing time. Lopez played well in ten minutes of action in a closely contested game against Vanderbilt.   The Knoxville native committed zero turnovers and added three assists in the win against the Commodores.

Arkansas is coming off a loss in Tuscaloosa to Alabama and is 3-4 in conference play.  Tip off is at 4:00 EST Saturday.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
