Tyler Bray came to the combine with a lot to prove. The physical talent that Bray possesses is obvious. During the NFL Network’s coverage of the combine analyst Mike Mayock said he considers Bray to have one of the best arms in the draft.

NFL draft scout Dane Brugler said that Bray was tough to read during his interview, saying that his answers were simple and basic. Brugler also said that Bray didn’t have a very engaging demeanor and his answers seemed “calculated”. Brugler did mention that Bray said he understood his off the field action affected him a little bit, and he was at the combine to prove he had grown up.

Brugler pointed that he felt a lot of questions were left unanswered, citing as an example that when Bray was asked about his footwork, Bray simply said “I think my footwork is good”. Brugler said he wasn’t blown away by the interview and hoped that Bray would be more out-going during the team interviews.

Bray definitely has a tough hill to climb. He comes to the draft process with many scouts already having preconceived notions about him, notions he’ll have to work hard to overcome. Bray has the talent to be an NFL quarterback, but he’s got to show he has the maturity to lead a team first.
