Miami Dolphins Release Former Vol Kevin Burnett

Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated is reporting the the Miami Dolphins have released linebacker Kevin Burnett.
Earlier in the day the Dolphins signed linebackers Phillip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe. The Dolphins will save a little over $3 million this upcoming season by releasing Burnett.
Burnett wasn’t the only casualty at the linebacker position today, Miami also released Karlos Dansby.
The former Tennessee Volunteer was coming off his best season as a professional. In 2012 Burnett totaled 110 tackles, 80 of the solo variety, and 2.5 sacks. Burnett also had a great year in 2011, his first with the Dolphins, recording 106 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception.
Burnett is a former second round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2005. The California native played at the University of Tennessee from 2000-2004.
