Tennessee Volunteers Baseball: Vols Drop 6th In A Row

The Tennessee Volunteers lost their 6th game in a row on Friday, losing to the 11th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 5-4  at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols (13-15) pitching was fantastic, giving up only one unearned run, but two errors proved costly for Tennessee.

South Carolina (24-7) took a 4-2 lead in the top of the 8th, but the Volunteers rallied in the bottom of the 8th with two runs of their own.

The Gamecocks scored the go ahead run in the top of the 9th off a Max Schrock RBI double. Zack Godley was credited with the loss and fell to 2-3 on the season. 

Tyler Webb picked up the win for the Gamecocks, improving to 1-1.

The Volunteers have not won since March 23rd against Missouri.

Game two of the series will be played at 12:30 pm est on Saturday.

Tennessee will send junior Nick Williams (1-1, 3.46) to the mound.

Sophomore Evan Beal (2-1, 4.30) will get the start for South Carolina.
