Spring practice will come to and end this Saturday with the Vol’s Orange & White game and one of the biggest questions remaining is “who will start at QB for the Vols”?
Right now there are only two competing for the job — junior Justin Worley and redshirt freshmen Nathan Peterman.
There’s still a long way to go before a starter is named, but both Worley and Peterman seem to be thriving off the competition.
"Nathan Peterman: Competition is awesome. I am a competitor; everyone on offense is a competitor. We love it, we thrive off of it.Justin Worley: We are going to compete day in and day out, no matter what we do. If it’s lifting weights or throwing routes on air or different things like that, I’m not looking for an answer"
Two players will be added to the competition when incoming freshmen Josh Dobbs and Riley Ferguson report to the Vols later this summer.
Coach Butch Jones says there will be an open competition at quarterback and that includes the two freshmen.
"Absolutely. It’s open competition. That’s why we really haven’t paid a lot of attention to the depth chart. Depth chart is really for the first game where you line up. Everything in our program is based off of competition. We’re going to play the best players that we feel fit that will give us the best opportunity to win on Saturdays."
There’s obviously a long way to go before a starting quarterback is named, but we want to know who you think should be the starter for the Vols this fall.
