"Battling until the end, the No. 4 seeded University of Tennessee women’s doubles team of Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely fell 7-5, 7-5 in the NCAA Doubles Semifinals to No. 2 seeded Southern California Sunday.“Brynn and Kata had a great tournament run,” said co-head coach Mike Patrick. “We put ourselves in a position to win each set a had a couple of opportunities to win each set but just weren’t able to capitalize. USC played well, but we also played just as hard.”"

"buddy of mine from work who is a big Alabama fan made his maiden voyage to Knoxville last year to watch the Crimson Tide beat the Vols. Given that this is actually one of the [very] few tolerable Bammers, I gave him the lay of the land prior to his trip. He was very excited to see Neyland Stadium and experience the atmosphere of one of the great college football venues in the country with his VERY pregnant wife."

"Tennessee co-head softball coach Ralph Weekly didn’t get any surprises for his team’s opening game of the Women’s College World Series. In fact, Weekly already penciled Florida in for Thursday’s game after the Lady Vols advanced Saturday to the WCWS with a 5-3 victory over Alabama in an NCAA Super Regional at Lee Stadium to win the best-of-three series 2-0.“Guess who we got now?” Weekly said in his post-game press conference. “Florida, first round.”Weekly was a bit premature.Florida hadn’t advanced yet."

"Each year about this time we are reminded that the SEC is a family.Coaches and administrators will assemble for more family business this Tuesday at a Destin, Fla., resort for the spring meetings, which will continue through Friday. In the beach-resort setting, you can’t forget how fierce the football competition has become among family members, especially in football. But no matter how brutal the competition becomes — or how many rivals’ trees perish in the process — the family continues to flourish. The prosperity is no mystery. It’s as obvious as the Waterford crystal its coaches have held so preciously at the end of the last seven football seasons."
