Running back Marlin Lane has been reinstated to the Tennessee Volunteers football team, according to Jimmy Hyams.

Lane rushed for 658 yards as a sophomore in 2012, averaging 5.5 yards a carry, to go along with his two rushing touchdowns.

The Daytona Beach, FL native had one his best games of the season in a loss against Alabama. Lane totaled 103 yards on the day, including 55 rushing yards and 48 receiving yards on five receptions.

Lane is expected to split the tailback duties with senior Rajion Neal.

Neal lead the team in rushing last season with 708 yards. He looked great at times, for example against Georgia he rushed for 103 yards, caught five passes for 53 yards and scored two touchdowns.

The Vols will hope to see more consistency from the two running backs in 2013.

Joining them in the mix will be redshirt freshman Alden Hill, who had a solid spring with Lane out of action.

The Vols should have a much more productive rushing attack under Butch Jones in 2013.
