The Tennessee Volunteers have extended a scholarship offer to 2015 running back Taj Griffin, according to ESPN recruiting analyst Kipp Adams.

Griffin, 5’10″/175 lbs, is rated as a four-star all purpose back by 247Sports.

The Powder Springs, GA (McEachern) native has an impressive list of offers so far, including: Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State among others.

Auburn was the last school to offer Griffin, before the Vols, on May 23.

Griffin is a smaller back that is reminiscent of Isiah Pead, who played under Butch Jones at Cincinnati and now plays for the St. Louis Rams. Butch Jones likes speed and Griffin provides that, he runs the 40 in 4.35 seconds.

The Vols will face some stiff competition from Georgia for Griffin’s commitment, but they’ve got plenty of time to make an impression.
