Late Monday night there were (unofficial) rumblings that Butch Jones and Tennessee had received yet another commitment to the 2014 recruiting class.

According to the Twitter account of Jerome Dews, a outside linebacker/wide receiver from Oxon Hill, MD (Potomac), he became the Vols newest commit.

Dews hasn’t been credited as a Tennessee commit by any of the major recruiting services just yet.

According to 247Sports Dews recently camped with the Vols and was offered on June 18.

While Dews, 6’3″/205,  has not been rated by Rivals, he has been rated as a two-star recruit by 247Sports.

There’s been some speculation already that Dews could be a preferred walk-on. While that could be the case, I wouldn’t base that on Dews’ ranking. It’s a well-known fact that Butch Jones doesn’t put much stock in recruiting ratings (his recruitment of former two-star offensive lineman Eric Fisher while at Central Michigan is the perfect example).

Aside from Dews’ offer from the Vols, he also holds offers from Deleware, James Madison and Temple.

Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @AllforTennessee, for more on Dews’ commitment.
