"Tennessee made its quarterbacks live for contact during Friday’s practice, but even that couldn’t slow Riley Ferguson. The freshman has played well enough to split second-team reps with Nathan Peterman this week, and first-year coach Butch Jones volunteered his praise for Ferguson’s Friday performance. The coach also reminded everyone to stop before they start.“The individual who stepped up was Riley Ferguson,” Jones said. “Don’t write about it. He’s not the starting quarterback. We don’t have a starting quarterback right now, so don’t put words in my mouth.“I thought he showed some poise. The thing I liked about him was his pocket presence. He doesn’t get rattled, and he made some big throws.”"
From the News & Observer
"enny Moshak has retired as Tennessee’s associate director of sports medicine, less than a year after she filed a lawsuit against the university for discrimination and retaliation.“Due to the overall atmosphere since I raised issues of equality at the University of Tennessee and given the university’s unwillingness to address the issues of discrimination and retaliation, I cannot continue my association with the university’s athletic department,” Moshak said in a statement released Friday by her lawyer, Keith D. Stewart."

"I know there are some people who believe the University of Tennessee football program has gone up in proverbial smoke in recent years. There have been four different head coaches since 2008, which contributed mightily to an embarrassing 12-28 SEC record in what is hopefully no lingering drought. After two back-to-back seasons where the Vols have lost more than they’ve won (5-7), to just introduce a new uniform that looks like a dark cloud or dreary day may indeed be quite fitting."

"The best thing you can say about Tennessee’s alternate football uniform: It could’ve been worse. That pretty much sums it up. In a scene right out of Project Runway, Vols coach Butch Jones on Thursday unveiled an alternate uniform with a dominant color he described as “smoky gray.” The fashion police did not issue a citation."
